Ihab Al-Zuhairi
22-year old center Ihab Al-Zuhairi (209-C-98) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's best team Al Naft and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 35.
He had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Al-Hashd (#3, 16-5) with 17-point margin 93-76. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Al Naft to consolidate first place in the Iraqi league. Al Naft has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 21-1. Al-Zuhairi has many years of experience at Al Naft, through which he has constantly improved. Al-Zuhairi has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 17.4ppg).
Second best performed player last round was Sajjad Al-Saedi of Al-Hashd. He is a in his first (recently joined) season at Al-Hashd. In the last game Al-Saedi recorded impressive 21 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as Al-Hashd lost that game 76-93 to slightly higher-ranked Al Naft (#1, 21-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Al-Hashd still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 16-5 record is not bad at all. Al-Saedi is one of the most experienced players at Al-Hashd and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 10.3ppg (#9). He also registered 4.8 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to another Al Naft's star - forward Ali Hamad (193-F-86). Hamad scored 19 points and passed four assists. He was another key player of Al Naft, helping his team with a 93-76 easy win against #3 ranked Al-Hashd. Many experts and fans count Al Naft as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 21 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Hamad has a very solid season. In 21 games in Iraq he scored 9.6ppg.
