Best players of Iraqi Superleague round 34

Ali Hameed

Experienced International Center Ali Hameed (208-C-84) had a great game in the last round for Nift Al-Basra and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 34.
The 36-year old center had a double-double of 24 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team edged out Al-Hashd (#3, 16-4) 77-73. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old Lebanese power forward Mohamad Haidar (203-F/C-90, agency: BIG) of Al-Hashd. Haidar impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Al-Hashd was edged by slightly lower-ranked Nift Al-Basra (#4, 13-5) 77-73. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Al-Hashd still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. It was just his team's 4th loss this season, while they won 16 other games. Haidar is one of the most experienced players at Al-Hashd and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.2ppg (#3). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American guard Kevin Galloway (200-PG-88) of top-ranked Al Naft. Galloway showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al Naft, leading his team to a 83-71 win against the lower-ranked Al-Khtot (#9, 7-13). Many experts and fans count Al Naft as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 20 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Galloway has a great season in Iraq. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.5apg (best passer). Kevin Galloway has also Iraqi passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
