Iraqi Superleague round 33 best performance: Ali Hameed

International Center Ali Hameed (208-C-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nift Al-Basra, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 33.
The 36-year old player had a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds, while his team crushed Al-Tadamoun (#7, 7-12) with 24-point margin 82-58. Nift Al-Basra is placed at 4th position in Iraqi Superleague. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Nift Al-Basra will need more victories to improve their 13-5 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Hameed as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Ali Hameed has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.3rpg) and averages impressive 3.8bpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 33-year old Ala'A Abed (195-F-87) of Al Hilla. Abed had a very good evening with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Al Hilla lost that game 59-68 to the higher-ranked Al Kahraba (#5, 13-5). Al Hilla are still at the very bottom. 20 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Al Hilla managed to get this year. Abed is one of the most experienced players at Al Hilla and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-G-89) of Al Kahraba (#5). Mitchell showcased his all-around game by recording 13 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al Kahraba, leading his team to a 68-59 win against the lower-ranked Al Hilla (#12, 1-20). Al Kahraba needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 5 lost games. Mitchell has a great season in Iraq. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.2ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 10.0rpg (4th best) and assists with 5.2apg (2nd best).
