Hammoodi's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Thulfiqar Hammoodi

28-year old forward Thulfiqar Hammoodi (196-F-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Al-Hashd and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 23.
He had a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds, while his team crushed Al-Tadamoun (#7, 5-7) with 17-point margin 78-61. Al-Hashd is placed at 2nd position in Iraqi league. They are still close to the very top. Al-Hashd would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 13-3 record. Hammoodi turned to be Al-Hashd's top player in his first season with the team. Hammoodi has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 19.7ppg) and rebounds (6th best: 9.2rpg).

Second best performed player last round was Rekan Abdulla of Ghaz Al-Shamal. He is a in his first season at Ghaz Al-Shamal. In the last game Abdulla recorded impressive 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course he led Ghaz Al-Shamal to another comfortable win 85-67 over slightly lower-ranked Al Hilla (#12, 1-13) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Ghaz Al-Shamal managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 10th place. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Ghaz Al-Shamal managed to get this year. Abdulla is a newcomer at Ghaz Al-Shamal and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Ali Hameed (208-C-84) of Nift Al-Basra (#5). Hameed scored 15 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Nift Al-Basra, leading his team to a 78-73 win against slightly higher-ranked Al Kahraba (#4, 9-5). Nift Al-Basra needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 5 lost games. Hameed has a great season in Iraq. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.3rpg (4th best).
