Superleague Round 20: Al-Khtot beat Al-Tadamoun by one after a very close game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Superleague. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 20 in the Superleague took place in Najef. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Al-Tadamoun (5-5) to seventh ranked Al-Khtot (6-9) 60-59 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al-Tadamoun. Al-Khtot held Al-Tadamoun to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Al-Khtot forced 19 Al-Tadamoun turnovers. Hamzah Abs saved the victory by scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Nawras Altaleb contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Hussein Al-Mahmood replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for Al-Tadamoun. Al-Khtot moved-up to fifth place. Al-Tadamoun at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Nift Al-Basra. Al-Khtot's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Al Kahraba.
The game between 12th ranked Al Hilla (1-10) and seventh ranked Al-Khtot (6-9) in Al Hilla ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Baghdad outscored Al Hilla 85-55. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Glen Burns (190-95, college: Chicago St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Hamzah Abs who added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Al-Khtot's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward AlaA Abed (195-87) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Al-Khtot moved-up to fifth place. Al Hilla lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost.
