Best players of Iraqi Superleague round 5

American Chris Johnson (192-G-91) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Duhok and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 28-year old guard had a double-double of 30 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team edged out Al Hilla (#9, 1-3) 94-90. It allowed Duhok to consolidate first place in the Iraqi Superleague. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Duhok already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. Johnson turned to be Duhok's top player in his first season with the team. St. Catharine College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (3rd best: 26.8ppg) and rebounds (8th best: 9.5rpg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old international forward Thulfiqar Hammoodi (196-F-92) of Al Shurtah. Hammoodi impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds. Of course he led Al Shurtah to another comfortable win 84-68 over the lower-ranked AL-Adhamiya (#10, 1-4) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Al Shurtah to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 3-1 record is not bad at all. Hammoodi is one of the most experienced players at Al Shurtah and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American R.J. McGhee (198-F) of Al-Tadamoun (#4). McGhee showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, six rebounds and eight assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al-Tadamoun, leading his team to a 82-62 easy win against Al Kahraba (#11, 0-4). Al-Tadamoun needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. McGhee has a great season in Iraq. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.5ppg (5th best) and assists with 6.0apg (7th best).
