IBL top team - Al Karkh (11-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Al Hilla (4-7) 95-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Hilla. Undefeated Al Karkh have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. Al Hilla at the other side dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Al Mina. Al Karkh are looking forward to face Zakho (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Hilla will have a break next round.
The game in Basra supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Al Naft (9-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Al Mina (4-7). Al Naft smashed Al Mina 107-73. Al Naft have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Al Karkh. Al Mina at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Al Hilla. Al Naft will play against Al-Tadamoun (#8) in Najef in the next round where they are favorite. Al Mina will play on the road against AL-Adhamiya in Baghdad and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Najef was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Al Kahraba (7-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Al-Tadamoun (3-8). Al Kahraba managed to secure a 7-point victory 72-65 on Saturday. Al Kahraba maintains fourth position with 7-4 record. Loser Al-Tadamoun keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Zakho. Al Kahraba's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Al Shurtah.
Second ranked Al Shurtah (10-1) crushed at home 10th ranked Al-Khtot Al-Jawiya (2-9) by 41 points 116-75, which is the biggest margin this round. Al Shurtah have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-1 record behind leader Al Karkh. Al-Khtot Al-Jawiya lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with nine games lost. Al Shurtah's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Baghdad to the arena Al Kahraba.

In the last game of round 12 bottom-ranked AL-Adhamiya was destroyed by Zakho on the opponent's court 111-88.



Al Hilla - Al Karkh 71-95

Rather expected game when 11th ranked AL-Adhamiya (1-10) was crushed on the road by ninth ranked Zakho (3-8) 111-88. Zakho have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al-Tadamoun. AL-Adhamiya lost ninth consecutive game. AL-Adhamiya at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Zakho's next round opponent will be league's leader Al Karkh on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. AL-Adhamiya will play against Al Mina (#6) and hope to win that game.

Defending champion Ahli Shabab Dubai (D1) added to their roster 33-year old American (has also Iraqi passport) forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry). He played recently at Homentmen in Lebanese LBL league. He helped them to make it to the Supercup final. The last season Monroe played at Al Gharafa in D1 where in 18 games he had very impressive stats: 20.3ppg, 10.1rpg, 5.8apg (top 4) and 1.8spg. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Baghdad: Al Shurtah (#2) and Al Kahraba (#4). Al Kahraba was defeated at home 78-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Shurtah have a solid series of four victories in a row. GABE FREEMAN Al Karkh (IBL) added to their roster 33-year old American forward Gabe Freeman (198-85). He joins another USA player Qiydar Davis which is already in the roster. Freeman just played at Halifax Hurricanes in Canadian NBL. In 13 NBL Canada games he recorded stats: 15.4ppg, 8.2rpg, 1.9apg and 1.0spg this season.
