Superleague Round 11 (Regular Season): No surprise as #1 Esteghlal defeat Golnoor

Superleague top team - Esteghlal (10-0) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat seventh ranked Golnoor (5-6) in Qeshm 76-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Golnoor. It was a great evening for who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 assists. helped adding 19 points. Maleki Ali responded with 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Esteghlal have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Golnoor at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Esteghlal are looking forward to face Tabiat (#4) in the next round. Golnoor will have a break next round.

Kalleh did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 104-87. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-1989, college: Marquette) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Jalal Aghamiri accounted for 24 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Mohammad Jamshidi (199-1991, agency: BIG) came up with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for Naft Zagros in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Kalleh. They maintain third place with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Esteghlal. Naft Zagros lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Naft Abadan.
An interesting game took place in Mahshahr where 8th ranked Mahshahr (3-7) was upset on its own court by eleventh ranked Alborz (3-8) 83-76 on Monday. The best player for the winners was Ramon Galloway who scored 30 points and 4 assists. Amin Abdi produced 15 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Alborz moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Raad Padafan and Pas Kordestan. Mahshahr lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Alborz will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mahshahr will play against the league's second-placed Gorgan (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.

In the last game of round 11 Naft Abadan destroyed Pas Kordestan on the opponent's court 113-65.



Naft Zagros - Kalleh 87-104

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Pas Kordestan (3-8) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Naft Abadan (6-5) 113-65 on Monday. Naft Abadan outrebounded Pas Kordestan 48-19 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naft Abadan shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Pas Kordestan's players. The best player for the winners was Sajjad Pazrofteh who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Majid Rahimian chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-1989, college: Marquette) produced 25 points and 6 assists and Mahdi Jafari added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Five Naft Abadan and four Pas Kordestan players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Naft Abadan. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Naft Zagros. Loser Pas Kordestan keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Alborz and Raad Padafan.
