Superleague Round 5 of Regular Season

The most interesting game of round 5 in the Superleague was only one-point a home defeat of 7th ranked Naft Abadan (2-3) to sixth ranked Kalleh (3-2) 69-68. Kalleh moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Naft Abadan at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Alborz and Raad Padafan. Kalleh is looking forward to face Alborz (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Naft Abadan will play against the league's second-placed Gorgan and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very significant was Gorgan's (#2) 75-66 road victory against 3rd placed Tabiat. Gorgan have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 4-1 record behind leader Esteghlal. Tabiat at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Gorgan will play against Naft Abadan (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tabiat will play against Shahrod (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Superleague top team - Esteghlal (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Raad Padafan (2-3) 79-58. Undefeated Esteghlal have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Loser Raad Padafan dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Alborz and Naft Abadan. Esteghlal will meet at home Mahshahr (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Raad Padafan will play against Golnoor and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 5 winless Golnoor lost to Alborz on the opponent's court 76-82. Mahshahr managed to outperform Naft Zagros in a home game 82-74.



Raad Padafan - Esteghlal 58-79

Superleague top team - Esteghlal (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Raad Padafan (2-3) 79-58. Esteghlal have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Loser Raad Padafan dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Alborz and Naft Abadan. Esteghlal will meet at home Mahshahr (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Raad Padafan will play against Golnoor and hope to secure a win.

Alborz - Golnoor 82-76

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Golnoor's (0-5) road loss to tenth ranked Alborz (2-3) 76-82 on Thursday. Alborz moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Naft Abadan and Raad Padafan. Golnoor lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Alborz will meet higher ranked Kalleh (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Golnoor will play against Raad Padafan (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Naft Abadan - Kalleh 68-69

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Mahshahr (3-2) defeated at home 4th placed Naft Zagros (3-2) 82-74 on Thursday. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mahshahr. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Naft Zagros. Mahshahr will meet league's leader Esteghlal in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Naft Zagros will play against Pas Kordestan and hope to secure a win.

Tabiat - Gorgan 66-75
