Superleague Round 17 (Regular Season): #1 Tabiat is defeated by Alborz

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Tabiat (13-2) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Alborz (9-7) 112-104. Newly promoted Alborz maintains sixth place with 9-7 record. Defending champion Tabiat still keeps top position with two games lost. Alborz are looking forward to face Foolad (#9) in Bandar Abbass in the next round. Tabiat will play on the road against Mahshahr (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Raad managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of nine consecutive losses. This time they won against tenth-ranked Mahshahr in Mashhad 110-105. Raad (3-14) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ayandeh Sazan. Mahshahr lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Raad will play against Ayandeh Sazan (#11) in Tehran in the next round. Mahshahr will play against the league's leader Tabiat and will have a slim chance for a victory.

Naft Abadan maintains third place with 12-4 record behind leader Tabiat. Newly promoted Ishafan keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Naft Abadan will meet Shahrod (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ishafan will play against the league's second-placed Kalleh in Amol and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 17 Ayandeh Sazan lost to Kalleh on the opponent's court 89-102. Gorgan managed to outperform Shahrod in a home game 85-70.



Ishafan - Naft Abadan 65-79

Newly promoted Kalleh maintains second place with 13-4 record having just two point less than leader Tabiat. Ayandeh Sazan at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Raad. Kalleh will meet at home Ishafan (#5) in the next round. Ayandeh Sazan will play against Raad (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Gorgan - Shahrod 85-70

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Gorgan (11-5) defeated at home 8th ranked Shahrod (6-10) 85-70 on Monday. Gorgan maintains fourth place with 11-5 record. Newly promoted Shahrod keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Gorgan will meet Zob Ahan (#7) in the next round. Shahrod will play against Naft Abadan and hope to secure a win.
