Russ Smith signs at Tabiat

Russ Smith

Defending champion Tabiat (Superleague) landed 33-year old American 183cm point guard Russ Smith (college: Louisville). He played most recently at The Ville (The Basketball Tournament) in the U.S. In four TBT games he just recently played he averaged impressive 15.3ppg and 3.8rpg last season. The last season he played at HDL Nardo (Serie A) in Italian league.
In 2014 he was drafted by Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in second round (47th overall). He graduated from University of Louisville and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Smith is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to seven different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Smith has played previously professionally in China (Blue Whales, Sturgeons, Guizhou and Hainan Haixiang), Israel (Hapoel Beer Sheva), Italy, Puerto Rico (Gigantes), Turkey (Galatasaray), NBA (Memphis Grizzlies) and NBA G League (Indiana Mad Ants, Iowa Wolves and Delaware Blue Coats).
Among many awards he won NBA Pro Summer League in Orlando championship title in 2015. He was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Italian Serie A2 Guard of the Year in 2023.
