Gorgan adds Gibson to their roster, ex Sagesse

Jonathan Gibson

Defending champion Shahrdari Gorgan (Superleague) added experienced 36-year-old American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188cm-84kg-1987, college: NM State) to their roster for the 2024-25 season. He joins fellow USA player Joseph Young on the team. Gibson played last season at Sagesse in the Lebanese LBL league, where he put up impressive stats: 21.2ppg, 3.5rpg, 4.2apg, and 1.5spg in 19 games, helping his team reach the Lebanese League final. He was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Second Team for his performance. Gibson also played 13 games in the West Asia Super League, averaging 22.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 4.2apg, and 2.5spg, contributing to his team's success in reaching the group semifinals. Prior to his time in Lebanon, he spent three seasons (2020-23) with the Ducks in the Chinese league.
Gibson has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He is a quite experienced player. Gibson's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in eight different countries. Gibson tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Jiangsu Dragons, Eagles, Guangsha Lions and Anhui Wenyi), Israel (Elitzur Ironi Ashkelon), Italy (Brindisi), Lebanon, Turkey (Trabzonspor and Oyak Renault), NBA (Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics), Iran (Petrochimi) and NBA G League (College Park SkyHawks). Gibson is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Gorgan.
He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2010 and it'll be his 15th (!!!) season as a professional player.
Gibson is a talented player. He has great chemistry with his teammates. He always gives his best effort on the court. There is a strong connection between him and the coaching staff. Gibson has shown consistent improvement during the season.
Gibson is one of the top 3rd year American professionals in Europe, with the potential to be a scoring leader in any league he competes in. His speed and shooting ability make him a threat on the court, making him difficult to defend when he has possession.
