Superleague Round 10 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Zob Ahan wins another game

Superleague top team - Zob Ahan (10-1) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they beat seventh ranked Naft Abadan (5-5) in Esfahan 79-63. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-1989, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. International Rasoul Mozafari (188-1994) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Zob Ahan's coach Mehran Hatami used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Ehsan Dalirzahan (186-2000) replied with 27 points and 5 rebounds for Naft Abadan. Zob Ahan have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record. Naft Abadan lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with five games lost. Zob Ahan are looking forward to face Limondis (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Naft Abadan will play against Raad in Mashhad and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
Bottom-ranked Sanaye is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their tenth consecutive match to seventh ranked Kerman (5-4) 75-72. Seyed Hoseini scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Erfan Soleimani chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Omid Gharinejhad responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kerman have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Sanaye at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Kerman will play against Averta (#8) in the next round. Sanaye will play against Kalleh (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Tabiat managed to escape with a 3-point win 74-71 on Thursday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Jordan Stevens notched 23 points and 5 assists to lead the effort. Even 26 points and 4 assists by Jalen Bradley did not help to save the game for Limondis. Newly promoted Tabiat maintains third position with 7-3 record having four points less than leader Zob Ahan. Limondis at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Tabiat will meet at home league's second-placed Gorgan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Limondis will play against the league's leader Zob Ahan (#1) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 10 Rafsanjan was beaten by Kalleh on the road 84-74. Mahram destroyed Raad on its own court 92-64.
The most impressive performance of 10th round was 19 points and 6 rebounds by Jamil Jones of Zob Ahan.




Kalleh - Rafsanjan 84-74

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Kalleh (6-4) beat 8th ranked Rafsanjan (4-6) in Amol 84-74 on Thursday. Kalleh made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Kalleh outrebounded Rafsanjan 38-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. The former international Matin Aghajanpour (199-2001) notched 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-1990, college: UC Irvine, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 22 points (made all of his eight free throws). Kalleh's coach Ali Arezoomandi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 26 points and 7 assists by Croatian swingman Fran Pilepic (194-1989) did not help to save the game for Rafsanjan. Lithuanian power forward Julius Jucikas (204-1989, agency: BIG) added 21 points for lost side. Kalleh have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mahram. Rafsanjan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Kalleh will meet bottom-ranked Sanaye (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rafsanjan will play against Mahram and hope to secure a win.

Mahram dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Raad's 32. Mahram forced 19 Raad turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Nigerian-American power forward OD Anosike (203-1991, college: Siena) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Parrish Petty (185-1988, college: UTRGV) supported him with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mahram players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by Mohsen Varankeshi did not help to save the game for Raad. The former international swingman Ehsan Samadi (192-1998) added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mahram maintains fourth position with 6-4 record, which they share with Kalleh. Raad lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. Mahram will meet Rafsanjan (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Raad will play against Naft Abadan and hope to win that game.
