Superleague Round 7 (Regular Season): Mahram beat Kalleh by three after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 7 in the Superleague took place in Tehran. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Kalleh (3-4) to fifth ranked Mahram (4-2) 89-86 on Thursday evening. Mahram made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Kalleh helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Mohammad Jamshidi (199-1991, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) (made all of his fourteen free throws !!!). The former international forward Sajjad Pazrofteh (205-1996) contributed with 9 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The former international Matin Aghajanpour (199-2001) answered with 18 points for Kalleh. Kalleh's coach Ali Arezoomandi tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mahram maintains fifth place with 4-2 record. Kalleh lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh position with four games lost.
Second ranked Tabiat blasted bottom-ranked Sanaye (0-7) in Bandar Abbass 86-56. Sanaye is still unable to win any game. It was a great evening for American point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 7 rebounds. Arman Zangeneh helped adding 10 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side Omid Gharinejhad responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tabiat have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Zob Ahan. Sanaye at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost.

It was an exceptional evening for Dwight Buycks who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 assists. Derric Jean came up with 29 points for Averta in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zob Ahan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tabiat. Newly promoted Averta dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with Limondis.

In the last two games of round 7 Limondis were beaten by Rafsanjan on the road 99-85. Naft Abadan lost to Kerman on its own court 71-78.




Averta - Zob Ahan 84-90

The game in was also quite interesting. Third ranked Zob Ahan (6-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Averta (2-5). Zob Ahan managed to secure a 6-point victory 90-84 on Thursday. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-1989, college: Marquette) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 assists. International Rasoul Mozafari (188-1994) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Five Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. American-Haitian guard Derric Jean (188-1997, college: La Tech, agency: BIG) came up with 29 points and the former international Majid Rahimian added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Averta in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zob Ahan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tabiat. Newly promoted Averta dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with Limondis.

Mahram - Kalleh 89-86

Rafsanjan - Limondis 99-85

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Rafsanjan (4-3) beat at home 9th ranked Limondis (2-5) 99-85 on Thursday. Rafsanjan shot 63.6 percent from the field and had 25 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Limondis only scored eight points from the stripe. Rafsanjan had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Ali Vernosafadarani who led the winners and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Croatian swingman Fran Pilepic (194-1989) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Rafsanjan players scored in double figures. American point guard Jalen Bradley (185-1993, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds and Farbod Saatdat added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Limondis in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rafsanjan moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Limondis keep the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Averta.

Naft Abadan - Kerman 71-78

There was an upset when 4th placed Naft Abadan (5-2) lost at home to tenth ranked Kerman (2-4) 78-71 on Thursday. Kerman dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Naft Abadan's 22. It was an exceptional evening for Mohsen Moradkhani who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Mehdi Afkhami accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. The former international guard Ehsan Dalirzahan (186-2000) came up with 26 points and 7 rebounds and Mehdi Hasanzadeh added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Naft Abadan in the defeat. Kerman moved-up to eighth place. Loser Naft Abadan keeps the fourth position with two games lost.
