Superleague Round 2 (Regular Season): Zob Ahan lose to Gorgan

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Superleague. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Zob Ahan on the court of Gorgan on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Gorgan 91-70. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Zob Ahan's 34. Gorgan looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international point guard Sina Vahedi (185-2001) who scored 27 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international Arsalan Kazemi (200-1990, college: Oregon, agency: BIG) chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international Hossien Makarian (195-2001) produced 17 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gorgan is looking forward to face Kerman on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zob Ahan will play against Rafsanjan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in . Tabiat saved a 1-point victory at home edging Kalleh 87-86 on Monday evening. Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) saved the victory by scoring 27 points and 4 assists. Saeid Davarpanah contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. The former international Matin Aghajanpour (199-2001) replied with 23 points for Kalleh. Tabiat will play against Mahram in Tehran in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kalleh will play against Limondis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in between Limondis and Kerman. Limondis got a very close home victory over Kerman. Limondis managed to escape with a 1-point win 84-83 on Monday evening. Jalen Bradley scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Mohsen Moradkhani responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Limondis will meet Kalleh in the next round. Kerman will play against Gorgan and hope to win that game.

There was no surprise when Averta was defeated at home by Mahram 100-84 on Monday. Mahram outrebounded Averta 37-21 including 27 on the defensive glass. The former international Mohammad Jamshidi (199-1991, agency: BIG) scored 26 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Piter Girgurian chipped in 26 points during the contest. Four Mahram players scored in double figures. Mahram's coach Farzad Kouhian used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Haitian guard Derric Jean (188-1997, college: La Tech, agency: BIG) responded with 29 points and 4 assists and the former international Majid Rahimian scored 18 points. Mahram will meet at home Tabiat in the next round. Averta will play against Naft Abadan and hope to win that game.

Rafsanjan used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Mashhad 83-62 on Monday night. Amin Abdi had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Mohamadreza Taghiloo (192-2000) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Mohsen Varankeshi responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Behnam Jomehzadeh scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rafsanjan will meet Zob Ahan in the next round. Raad will play against Sanaye and hope to win that game.

Mehdi Hasanzadeh had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Ehsan Dalirzahan (186-2000) chipped in 23 points during the contest. The former international power forward Sarem Jafari (207-2005, agency: BIG) responded with 16 points and the former international forward Eshagh Hatami (190-2000) scored 11 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Naft Abadan will meet at home Averta in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
