Best players of Iranian Superleague round 10 (Second Stage) - by Hoops Agents- March 5, 2022
The 25-year old playmaker had the game-high 30 points adding two rebounds and six assists for Parsa in his team's victory, helping them to beat Khouzestan (#4, 3-14) 90-79. Parsa maintains the 3rd position in their group in Iranian Superleague. Parsa is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 8th lost game this season out of 17 games. In the team's last game Starr had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Parsa, through which he has constantly improved. Brian Starr averages this season 13.8ppg. Worth to mention Starr played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko (215-C-1986, agency: BIG) of Sanaye. Fesenko impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 24 rebounds. Bad luck as Sanaye was edged by slightly higher-ranked Naft Abadan (#3, 5-12) 89-85. Sanaye managed to keep the same 4th spot in Group F. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Sanaye managed to get this Second Stage. Fesenko is one of the most experienced players at Sanaye and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last round was another Sanaye's star - Mohammad Yazdanpanah (201-F-1995). Yazdanpanah got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds and four assists. Despite Yazdanpanah's great performance Sanaye lost 85-89 to #3 ranked Naft Abadan. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Sanaye can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group F. They have rather bad season and 4-14 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Yazdanpanah has a very solid season. In 16 games in Iran he scored 14.4ppg. He also has 7.4rpg and 1.3bpg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Mohammad Jamshidi (199-SF-1991) of Gorgan - 27 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists 5. Asghar Kardoust (212-C-1986) of Kerman - 21 points and 15 rebounds 6. Nikola Dragovic (206-F-1987) of Sirjan - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists 7. Anton Ponkrashov (200-G-1986) of Sirjan - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists 8. Navid Khajezadeh (196-F-1996) of Parsa - 27 points and 8 rebounds 9. DaJuan Summers (203-PF-1988) of Mahram - 19 points and 8 rebounds 10. Dragan Tubak (216-C-1987) of Khouzestan - 9 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
