Superleague Round 7: Zob Ahan defeats Foolad

An interesting game for Zob Ahan (15-2) which hosted in Esfahan their biggest opponent Foolad (7-10). First ranked Zob Ahan had an easy win 96-79. Zob Ahan dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Foolad's 28. They outrebounded Foolad 46-31 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zob Ahan looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Foolad's players. 26 personal fouls committed by Foolad helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Arsalan Kazemi (200-90, college: Oregon, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 22 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international point guard Sajjad Mashayekhi (180-94) contributed with 31 points and 8 assists for the winners. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) answered with 33 points (!!!) for Foolad. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zob Ahan have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Newly promoted Foolad keeps the second position with ten games lost. Zob Ahan are looking forward to face Sanaye (#4) in Bandar Abbass in the next round. Foolad will play on the road against Naft Abadan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
