Superleague Round 3 (Second Stage): Zob Ahan beat Sanaye by one after a very close game

Fourth-ranked Sanaye (3-12) was very close to win a game against Zob Ahan (13-2) in Esfahan on Monday. Zob Ahan managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected easier game. 26 personal fouls committed by Sanaye helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93, agency: BIG) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 21 rebounds. Mohmmad Ahmadi contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko (215-86, agency: BIG) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 21 rebounds for Sanaye. Zob Ahan is looking forward to face Naft Abadan (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sanaye will play against Foolad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Mahram (13-2) which hosted in Tehran Khouzestan (3-12). Mahram had an easy win 84-59. It was a great evening for international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Saeid Davarpanah helped adding 16 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Arash Sabeti with 23 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mahram will play against Parsa (#3) in Mashhad in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Khouzestan will play at home against Kerman and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Parsa (7-8) which played road game in Kerman against Kerman (9-6). Parsa managed to get a 5-point victory 86-81. It was an exceptional evening for Navid Khajezadeh who led the winners and scored 20 points. Isaiah Williams came up with 36 points (!!!) for Kerman in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Parsa will meet at home Mahram in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kerman will play against Khouzestan in Ahvaz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 3 Naft Abadan was beaten by Foolad on the road 77-69.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 13 points and 11 rebounds by Reza Ranjbar of Naft Abadan.

Mahram - Khouzestan 84-59

An interesting game for Mahram (13-2) which hosted in Tehran Khouzestan (3-12). Mahram had an easy win 84-59. Mahram dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Khouzestan's 26. They outrebounded Khouzestan 37-23 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mahram players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The former international swingman Saeid Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Mahram players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Arash Sabeti with 23 points and 4 assists and Mostafa Abdolvand scored 4 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Parsa outrebounded Kerman 38-24 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Navid Khajezadeh (196-96) who led the winners and scored 20 points. The former international guard Morteza Taheri (189-96) accounted for 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Five Parsa players scored in double figures. American guard Isaiah Williams (188-95, college: Georgia St., agency: BIG) came up with 36 points (!!!) and Ukrainian center Igor Chumakov (208-90, agency: BIG) added 17 points respectively for Kerman in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Parsa will meet at home Mahram in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kerman will play against Khouzestan in Ahvaz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Foolad - Naft Abadan 77-69

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Foolad's (7-8) home victory over Naft Abadan (4-11) in Tehran 77-69 on Monday. Strangely Naft Abadan outrebounded Foolad 38-20 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Mohammad Bahram (180-98) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Payam Kiani accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Reza Ranjbar came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Mehdi Esmaeili (207-84) added 17 points respectively for Naft Abadan in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Foolad will meet Sanaye (#4) in the next round. Naft Abadan will play against Zob Ahan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
