Superleague Round 26: Mahram defeat Chemidor

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Chemidor (12-2) in Tehran on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Mahram (11-2) 67-62. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Chemidor. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Mahram looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Saeid Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 17 points and 8 assists for the winners. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds for Chemidor. Chemidor's coach Mehran Shahintab rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mahram have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-2 record having just one point less than leader Chemidor. Chemidor at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Tehran. Sixth ranked Foolad (5-8) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 5th ranked Raad (4-9) 103-101 in the game for the fifth place. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) scored 29 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Payam Kiani chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. M Talari responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Foolad have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Raad lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost.
An interesting game was also surprising home defeat of 4th ranked Parsa (#4) in a game in Mashhad versus Sanaye (#8) 82-70. Kyrylo Fesenko notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by Brian Starr did not help to save the game for Parsa. Parsa's coach Srdjan Jovanovic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sanaye (3-9) moved-up to seventh place. Parsa lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost.

In the last two games of round 26 Khouzestan was smashed by Zob Ahan on the road 92-66. Exxon SC lost to Rafsanjan on its own court 70-74.



Zob Ahan - Khouzestan 92-66

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Zob Ahan (10-3) crushed 6th ranked Khouzestan (3-8) in Esfahan 92-66 on Monday. Zob Ahan dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Khouzestan's 32. Zob Ahan forced 20 Khouzestan turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Khouzestan's players. The former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93, agency: BIG) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) supported him with 17 points, 10 assists and 6 steals. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by Abolfazl Ghaderian did not help to save the game for Khouzestan. Mostafa Abdolvand added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zob Ahan have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-3 record behind leader Chemidor. Loser Khouzestan keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Zob Ahan will meet league's leader Gorgan on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Khouzestan will have a break next round.

Five Sanaye players scored in double figures. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American point guard Brian Starr (190-96, college: Towson) did not help to save the game for Parsa. The former international forward Navid Khajezadeh (196-96) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Parsa's coach Srdjan Jovanovic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sanaye (3-9) moved-up to seventh place. Parsa lost third consecutive game. Very expected game when 7th ranked Exxon SC (3-11) lost to third ranked Rafsanjan (9-4) in Teheran 70-74 on Monday. Rafsanjan forced 23 Exxon SC turnovers. Strangely Exxon SC outrebounded Rafsanjan 51-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Majid Rahimian notched 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Yaghoub Shalooshi supported him with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Amirhossein Rezaeifar (196-0) did not help to save the game for Exxon SC. Guard Behshad Arabzadeh (195-0) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Exxon SC's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
