Chemidor Tehran (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 34-year old Nigerian ex-international power forward Alade Aminu (207cm-102kg-87, college: Georgia Tech). Aminu played last summer at Atleticos de San German in Puerto Rican BSN league. He managed to play in four leagues in three countries last year (!!!). In 30 BSN games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.8ppg, 7.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.0spg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN 2nd Team.
The most of last season he spent at Shahrdari Gorgan in Iranian Superleague where in 12 games he averaged 14.2ppg, 11.7rpg, 2.2apg, 1.9spg and 1.0bpg. Aminu helped them to win the league title. Great season indeed as he was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague 2nd Team and All-Imports Team. He also played for RETAbet Bilbao Basket in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 5 games he had 6.2ppg and 1.8rpg. Aminu also played 1 game in Basketball Champions League where he got 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
In 2009 he was drafted by Fort Wayne Mad Ants (D-League) in first round (10th overall).
He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and it is his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
Aminu has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
He also represented Nigeria at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) six years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 9.2ppg, 4.0rpg, FGP: 52.8%, FT: 66.7%.
Aminu is quite experienced player. Thanks to Aminu's pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) in eight different countries. He has played previously professionally in France (Chalon/Saor and JSF Nanterre), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Eilat), Italy, Lebanon (Al Riyadi), Poland (Twarde Pierniki), Turkey (Pinar Karsiyaka, TED Ankara and Bandirma), NBA (Miami Aminuat) and NBA G League (College Park SkyHawks).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Import of the Year back in 2017.
