Superleague Round 23: Parsa lose to lower ranked Foolad

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Round 23 most important game was a victory of Foolad over 4th placed Parsa 86-68 on Wednesday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Parsa. They outrebounded Parsa 42-29 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Moein Khorsandi (-3) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Mohammad Bahram (180-98) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international forward Navid Khajezadeh (196-96) answered with 16 points for Parsa. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Foolad (3-8) moved-up to sixth place. Parsa at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Foolad are looking forward to face Exxon SC (#7) in Teheran in the next round. Parsa will play on the road against the league's leader Chemidor in Tehran and is hoping to win this game.
Superleague top team - Chemidor (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Exxon SC (3-9) in Teheran 88-63. It was a great evening for the former international center Salar Monji (203-97, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. Mohammad Yousofvand helped adding 20 points. Swingman Mohammad Hoseinpour (186) responded with 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chemidor have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Exxon SC lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Naft Abadan. Chemidor will play against Parsa (#4) in Mashhad in the next round. Exxon SC will play on the road against Foolad in Tehran and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was an exceptional evening for Elijah Holman who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Mohammad Yazdanpanah came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for Sanaye in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mahram maintains second place with 9-2 record behind leader Chemidor. Sanaye lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Mahram will meet at home Rafsanjan (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sanaye will play against Raad (#5) in Mashhad and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 23 Raad was beaten by Rafsanjan on the road 88-75.



Sanaye - Mahram 48-64

The game in Bandar Abbass was also quite interesting. Second ranked Mahram (9-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Sanaye (1-9). Mahram defeated Sanaye 64-48 on Tuesday. Mahram dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sanaye's 34. Mahram forced 20 Sanaye turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Mohammad Yazdanpanah (201-95) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko (215-86, agency: BIG) added 16 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Sanaye in the defeat. No shocking result in a game when third ranked Rafsanjan (8-3) beat at home 5th ranked Raad (4-7) 88-75 on Tuesday. Rafsanjan looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Alani Moore II (178-98, college: Temple) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Mohammadreza Moradian accounted for 25 points for the winning side. Power forward Ali Rineh (202-97) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and M Talari added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Raad in the defeat. Four Raad players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Rafsanjan moved-up to second place, which they share with Zob Ahan. Loser Raad keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Rafsanjan will meet league's second-placed Mahram in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Raad will play against Sanaye and hope to secure a win.
