18th Year for Women's Basketball Super League, which started in October 25th 2019, is now in its semi-final round. The games primarily started with 12 teams and as of now, 4 teams are competing (best of three) to find their ways to the finals. The First day of semi-final round ended today with loss for two of the hosts. Namino Isfahan, Palayesh Naft Abadan, Bahman Group Tehran and Banovan Shahr Gorgan are the four teams competing in the semi-final round for championship.
In Isfahan, Namino Isfahan lost 79-72 a close game to Bahman Group Tehran. A double-double for Mozhgan Khodadadi (#5) with 23 points and 15 rebounds along with Masoumeh Esmaeilzadeh (#17) scoring 25 points for Namino was not enough to stop Bahman Group from winning the first game and moving one step closer to the final. For Bahman group, the performancer were the two double doubles for Golshid Omidian (#18), 21 points 19 rebounds and Negin Rasooli (#9), 14 points 11 assists.
On the other side, in Abadan, Palayesh Naft Abadan lost the game on the house to Banovan Shahr Gorgan, 94-72. Edna Eissayan (#99) had impressive day with 27 points and 27 rebounds for Gorgan having an undeniable contribution to the win. For Palayesh Naft Farzane Foroutanfard (#14) scored 24 points and Elnaz Siahi (#15) recorded another double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds.
The four teams Avije Sanat Parsa Mashhad, Khane Basketball Hormozgan, Puzz Tehran and Aseman Setorg Sepehrdad Tehran as the losers in the playoffs, made it to the losers' table last week and started competing for 5th to 8th places. In these four games the highlighted stats belongs to the game in Tehran, between the two teams, Puzz Tehran and Khane Basketball Hormogan where Puzz could beat Hormozgan with the result of 72 to 65. Zahra Gheis (#7), with 15 points and 18 rebounds, played an impressive game for Puzz. Marzie Tondro (#8) and Marzieh Farhadi (#11) scored 24 and 16 points for Khane Basketball Hormozgan respectively.
The return game for the above matches will be on Feb. 14, 2020 with Gorgan and Tehran as the hosts and in case of a 1 to 1 tie, the third games will be played the next day to define the finalists.
