Iranian Superleague round 12 best performance: Chris Gabriel (by Interperformances)- December 17, 2019
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds, while his team Shahrdari Q. maintains the 14th position in Iranian Superleague. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 11 games and recorded just one victory. Gabriel turned to be Shahrdari Q.'s top player in his first season with the team. Chris Gabriel averages just after three games 15.7ppg and 5.3rpg. Worth to mention Gabriel played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second best player in last round's games was young Spanish Gracin Bakumanya (211-C-97) of Toufarghan. Bakumanya had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he led Toufarghan to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Army (#13, 2-11) 79-53. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Toufarghan managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 9th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-8 record. Bakumanya is a newcomer at Toufarghan, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was former international swingman Saeid Davarpanah (190-G/F-87, agency: Interperformances) of Naft Abadan (#5). Davarpanah scored 29 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Naft Abadan, leading his team to a 61-53 win against slightly higher-ranked Gorgan (#3, 10-2). Naft Abadan needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Davarpanah has a great season in Iran. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.3ppg (4th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Zoran Vrkic (203-F-87) of Exxon SC - 27 points and 4 rebounds 5. Mahdi Moradinasab (202-C-92) of Naft Abadan - 19 points and 7 rebounds 6. Kelvin Amayo (193-G-92) of Toufarghan - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists 7. Ebrahim Beigi (211-C-94) of Raad - 19 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Amirhossein Khandanpour (203-F/C-98) of Mahram - 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-PF-90) of Petrochimi - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Mahdi Kamrani (181-PG-82) of Chemidor - 10 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
