Superleague Round 12: Petrochimi keeps a leadership position

There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Petrochimi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Petrochimi smashed 8th ranked Shahrdari BA in Bandar Imam 78-58. Petrochimi forced 23 Shahrdari BA turnovers. Strangely Shahrdari BA outrebounded Petrochimi 46-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Shahrdari BA's players. Worth to mention a great performance of international Rasoul Mozafari (188-94) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 assists and international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) who added 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international Yonas Lalehzadeh (197-89, college: UC Irvine) with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Shahrdari BA dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Toufarghan.
Leading Gorgan (10-2) recorded its second loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Naft Abadan (9-3) 61-53. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gorgan. The winners were led by the former international swingman Saeid Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and Mahdi Moradinasab supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Even 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) did not help to save the game for Gorgan. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 9-3 record. Gorgan at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Mahram.
The game in Teheran was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Chemidor (10-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Exxon SC (6-7). Chemidor managed to secure a 5-point victory 73-68 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Exxon SC. The best player for the winners was Mohammad Jamshidi who scored 17 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Zoran Vrkic who recorded 27 points. Exxon SC's coach Alborz Goli Abkenari tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Chemidor have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-3 record. Newly promoted Exxon SC keeps the seventh place with seven games lost.
An interesting game took place in Kerman where higher ranked Mashad (7-5) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Kerman (3-8) 70-60. It was a good game for Mehdi Jafari who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Mashad's coach Srdjan Jovanovic let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kerman moved-up to eleventh place. Mashad at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost.
Tenth ranked Toufarghan (5-8) crushed at home 13th ranked Army (2-11) by 26 points 79-53, which is the biggest margin this round on Monday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Kelvin Amayo who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toufarghan moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Shahrdari BA. Army lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost.

In the last two games of round 12 Zob Ahan won against Shahrdari Q. on the opponent's court 73-63. Mahram outscored Raad in a home game 73-47.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks by Ebrahim Beigi of Raad.

Kerman - Mashad 70-60

An interesting game took place in Kerman where higher ranked Mashad (7-5) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Kerman (3-8) 70-60. Kerman forced 19 Mashad turnovers. It was a good game for center Mehdi Jafari (204-96) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Majid Rahimian contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Corin Henry (181-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: Agency) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Mashad. Mashad's coach Srdjan Jovanovic let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kerman moved-up to eleventh place. Very expected game in Qazvin where 14th ranked Shahrdari Q. (1-11) was defeated by ninth ranked Zob Ahan (5-7) 73-63 on Monday. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Sajjad Pazrofteh (188-96) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Jerrod Hendricks (175-91, college: King) who added 13 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. Zob Ahan's coach Mehran Hatami used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was South African center Chris Gabriel (211-88, college: San Diego) with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Amir Taherkhani scored 11 points and 8 rebounds.
