Ivan Maras
Naft Abadan (Superleague) agreed terms with 30-year old Montenegrin international power forward Ivan Maras (207-110kg-86, agency: Alti Sport). He played last season at Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarusian Premier League. Maras managed to play in three leagues last year. In three Premier League games he had very impressive stats: 19.3ppg, 12.3rpg, 4.7apg and 2.0spg. He helped them to win the league title. Maras also played 12 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he recorded 12.2ppg, 8.4rpg and 3.0apg. Quite impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup 3rd Team. And finally Maras contributed to 30 games in VTB United League where he averaged 13.8ppg, 8.1rpg (#5 in the league) and 1.4apg. The other team Maras played shortly was Al Qadsia (D1) in Kuwaiti league. In three games he got remarkable 19.0ppg, 12.0rpg and 4.7apg. Another team Maras played briefly was Tsmoki-Minsk (also in Premier League). Similarly like in the last season, the team also played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In three Premier League games he got high stats: 19.3ppg, 12.3rpg, 4.7apg and 2.0spg. Maras contributed to his team winning the league title. Maras also played 12 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he got 12.2ppg, 8.4rpg and 3.0apg. It was another spectacular season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup 3rd Team. And finally Maras contributed to 30 games in VTB United League where he got 13.8ppg, 8.1rpg (#5 in the league) and 1.4apg.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Maras was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Bahrain League Player of the Year and Asia-Basket.com All-Bahrain League Import Player of the Year in 2014.
He also represented Montenegro at the Qualifications to European Championships 2017 this year. His stats at that event were 2 games: 2.0ppg.
Maras is quite experienced player. He has played in six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). Maras has played previously professionally in Belgium (Belfius Mons-Hainaut), Cyprus (Etha), Greece (Ilysiakos), Serbia, Bahrain (Al Manama) and Montenegro (Buducnost).
He could be described: A good power forward who can play in the 4 and 5 position. Has great shooting ability.
