IBL Round 12 (Regular Season): Hangtuah is defeated by Pelita Jaya in a derby game

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Jakarta: Pelita Jaya (#1) and Hangtuah (#5). Hangtuah was defeated at home 63-73 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Pelita Jaya outrebounded Hangtuah 47-23 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pelita Jaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Amorie Archibald (192-1999, college: La Tech, agency: Olsta) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import center Jeff Withey (213-1990, college: Kansas) who added 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Nick Hornsby (201-1995, college: Sacramento St.) with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Hangtuah's coach Wahyu Jati rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Pelita Jaya (11-0) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 11 victories in a row. Hangtuah at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Pelita Jaya are looking forward to face Pacific Caesar (#10) in Surabaya in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hangtuah will play on the road against Borneo (#3) in Pontianak and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Pacific Caesar has finally registered their first victory this season after 11 consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Dewa United (5-6) 97-87. The winners were led by American-Dominican forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and Joseph Obasa supported him with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Even 28 points and 9 assists by American point guard DJ Cooper (183-1990, college: Ohio) did not help to save the game for Dewa United. Pacific Caesar (1-11) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Satya Wacana. It was Dewa United's fifth loss in a row. Defending champion keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Pacific Caesar will play against league's leader Pelita Jaya in Jakarta in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dewa United will have a break next round.
The game in Jakarta was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Tangerang (7-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Rajawali (5-7). Tangerang did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 99-82 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Joao Franca who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Antonio Hester who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tangerang have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-4 record. Loser Rajawali dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Tangerang will meet league's second-placed Satria Muda in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Rajawali will play against Borneo (#3) in Pontianak and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 12: Satya Wacana was destroyed by Satria Muda on the opponent's court 97-59. Bottom-ranked Pacific Caesar unfortunately lost to Borneo in a home game 83-90. Satya Wacana recorded a loss to Hangtuah on the road 68-75. Rajawali defeated RANS PIK on its own court 86-82. Borneo beat Kesatria in Pontianak 91-81.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 25 points and 8 rebounds by Travin Thibodeaux of Borneo.



Satria Muda - Satya Wacana 97-59

Very expected game in Jakarta where 10th ranked Satya Wacana (1-11) was crushed by second ranked Satria Muda (10-1) 97-59 on Wednesday. Satria Muda outrebounded Satya Wacana 54-34 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Satria Muda looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Chad Brown (206-1996, college: UCF) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import forward Jalen Jones (202-1993, college: Texas A&M, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in 21 points. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Satria Muda players scored in double figures.
