IBL Round 3 (Regular Season): Borneo edges Tangerang by two points

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in IBL, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 3 in the IBL took place in Pontianak. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Tangerang (1-2) to Borneo (3-0) 69-67 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was American guard Stephaun Branch (196-1995, college: UWG) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import forward Travin Thibodeaux (203-1996, college: New Orleans) chipped in 10 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Haitian forward Jeantal Cylla (201-1996, college: Arkansas) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Borneo is looking forward to face Kesatria (#9) in Jakarta in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tangerang will have a break next round.

It was a good game for American forward Jalen Jones (202-1993, college: Texas A&M, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Chad Brown contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-DR Congolese guard Kevin Kangu (193-1998, college: Lenoir-Rhyne, agency: SLN) answered with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Satya Wacana. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satria Muda will play against RANS PIK (#7) in Gor Merpati in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Satya Wacana will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 3 Hangtuah was defeated by Dewa United in Tangerang 83-75. Winless Satya Wacana lost to undefeated Rajawali at home 60-76.



Satya Wacana - Satria Muda 61-80

The game with biggest result difference took place in Salatiga. Local Satya Wacana (0-4) was outscored by Satria Muda (3-0) 80-61. Satria Muda dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Satya Wacana's 32 and made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American forward Jalen Jones (202-1993, college: Texas A&M, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import center Chad Brown (206-1996, college: UCF) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Canadian-DR Congolese guard Kevin Kangu (193-1998, college: Lenoir-Rhyne, agency: SLN) answered with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Ukrainian power forward Serhii Pavlov (209-1997, agency: BIG) added 10 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Satya Wacana. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satria Muda will play against RANS PIK (#7) in Gor Merpati in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Satya Wacana will have a break next round.

Dewa United - Hangtuah 83-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Hangtuah's (2-2) road loss to Dewa United (2-1) 75-83. Dewa United dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hangtuah's 32. Dewa United forced 21 Hangtuah turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Dewa United brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American-Mexican center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard DJ Cooper (183-1990, college: Ohio) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 9 rebounds, 14 assists and 6 steals for the winners. American forward Nick Hornsby (201-1995, college: Sacramento St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals and the other American import Vander Blue (196-1992, college: Marquette) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Hangtuah. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Dewa United will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hangtuah will play on the road against RANS PIK (#7) in Gor Merpati and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Satya Wacana - Rajawali 60-76

No shocking result in a game in Salatiga where Rajawali (3-0) defeated Satya Wacana (0-4) 76-60. Rajawali outrebounded Satya Wacana 42-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Rajawali brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American Antonio Hester (199-1990, college: Mobile, AL) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (210-1987, college: UConn, agency: BIG) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Ukrainian power forward Serhii Pavlov (209-1997, agency: BIG) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Teemo Teemo (178-1998) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Satya Wacana. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Rajawali will play against Pacific Caesar (#10) in Surabaya in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Satya Wacana will have a break next round.
