IBL Round 17 (Regular Season): Satria Muda beat Dewa United by three after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 17 in the IBL took place in Jakarta. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Dewa United (15-4) to fourth ranked Satria Muda (15-5) 93-90 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Dewa United. Strangely Dewa United outrebounded Satria Muda 44-29 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Satria Muda shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import LeBryan Nash (198-1992, college: OK State) contributed with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Jordan Adams (194-1994, college: UCLA) answered with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Dewa United. Dewa United's coach Pablo Favarel rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Satria Muda maintains fourth place with 15-5 record. Dewa United at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Simba Bogor. Satria Muda are looking forward to face Pacific Caesar (#10) in Surabaya in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dewa United will play on the road against Borneo (#9) in Pontianak and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Simba Bogor (15-4) which played road game in Jakarta against 4th placed Satria Muda (15-5). Third ranked Simba Bogor managed to get a 6-point victory 80-74. American forward KJ Buffen (201-2000, college: UAB, agency: Diamond Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Aaron Fuller chipped in 16 points and 15 rebounds. The former international forward Juan Kokodiputra (193-1995) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Simba Bogor moved-up to second place, which they share with Dewa United. Satria Muda at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Simba Bogor will play against Tangerang (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Satria Muda will play against Pacific Caesar (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
IBL top team - Pelita Jaya (17-3) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Tangerang (11-9) in Jakarta 83-62. Jaquori McLaughlin nailed 27 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side. Maxie Esho came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for Tangerang in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pelita Jaya have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-3 record. Loser Tangerang dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Pelita Jaya will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tangerang will play against the league's second-placed Simba Bogor (#2) in Gor Merpati and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Bali Utd. was beaten by Prawira on the road 77-60. Kesatria BS destroyed Bima Perkasa on its own court 91-67. Pacific Caesar managed to outperform Prawira in Surabaya 90-78. Kesatria BS managed to beat Borneo at home 85-83. Bottom-ranked Rajawali was crushed by Pelita Jaya on the opponent's court 92-59.



Prawira - Bali Utd. 77-60

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Prawira (11-7) beat 13th ranked Bali Utd. (3-18) in Bandung 77-60 on Saturday. American Brandis Raley-Ross (189-1987, college: S.Carolina) nailed 32 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and Lithuanian power forward Norbertas Giga (208-1995, college: Jax State) accounted for 19 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Ida Putra (183-2000) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Bobby Arthur-Williams (201-1997, college: Pitt St., agency: Starting 5) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Bali Utd. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Prawira have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 11-7 record. Bali Utd. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Prawira will meet higher ranked Hangtuah (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
