IBL Round 11 (Regular Season): Derby game ends with Hangtuah's defeat of Satria Muda

IBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Jakarta: Hangtuah (#5) and Satria Muda (#2). Hangtuah (10-4) won against visiting Satria Muda (11-3) 79-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Satria Muda. American-Dominican guard Adonys Henriquez (201-1994, college: St.Louis) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Rakeem Christmas (206-1991, college: Syracuse) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. American LeBryan Nash (198-1992, college: OK State) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for Satria Muda. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hangtuah maintains fifth place with 10-4 record. Satria Muda at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Dewa United. Hangtuah are looking forward to face Bima Perkasa (#13) in Sakti in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Satria Muda will play on the road against Borneo (#9) in Pontianak and is hoping to win this game.
IBL top team - Simba Bogor (13-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Pacific Caesar (3-12) in Surabaya 101-93. It was a great evening for American forward KJ Buffen (201-2000, college: UAB, agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!) and 9 assists. Aaron Fuller helped adding 29 points and 13 rebounds. Simba Bogor's coach Anthony Garbelotto allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Dominican forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Simba Bogor have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Pacific Caesar lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

It was a quality performance for KJ Buffen who led the winners and scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Xavier Cannefax came up with 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Bali Utd. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Simba Bogor. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Bali Utd. lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Bima Perkasa. Simba Bogor will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bali Utd. will play against Borneo (#9) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11: Bima Perkasa was smashed by Dewa United on the road 102-69. Pacific Caesar lost to Borneo on its own court 96-97. Kesatria BS unfortunately lost to Tangerang in a road game 79-86. Tangerang rolled over Rajawali at home 113-85.
The most impressive performance of 11th round was 21 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists by Stephaun Branch of Tangerang.



Pacific Caesar - Simba Bogor 93-101

IBL top team - Simba Bogor (13-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Pacific Caesar (3-12) in Surabaya 101-93. Simba Bogor made 27-of-31 charity shots (87.1 percent) during the game, while Pacific Caesar only scored six points from the stripe. Simba Bogor players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. It was a great evening for American forward KJ Buffen (201-2000, college: UAB, agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!) and 9 assists. American-Mexican forward Aaron Fuller (198-1989, college: USC, agency: Haylett Sports) helped adding 29 points and 13 rebounds. Dewa United - Bima Perkasa 102-69

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Dewa United (11-3) crushed 13th ranked Bima Perkasa (2-12) in Tangerang 102-69 on Thursday. Dewa United forced 19 Bima Perkasa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international center Lester Prosper (209-1988, college: Old Westbury, agency: YoungGroup Unlimited) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Dominican point guard Gelvis Paulino (185-1994, college: Merrimack) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. American guard Keljin Blevins (198-1995, college: Montana St., agency: Diamond Sports) came up with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Kierell Green (203-1997, college: Edinboro) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Bima Perkasa in the defeat. Five Dewa United and four Bima Perkasa players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Dewa United. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Satria Muda. Bima Perkasa lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Bali Utd.. Dewa United will meet bottom-ranked Rajawali (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Bima Perkasa will play against Hangtuah in Jakarta and hope to secure a win.

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Pacific Caesar (3-12) was edged by ninth ranked Borneo (7-7) in Surabaya 97-96 on Friday. Borneo looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Muhammad Falconi (197-1993) accounted for 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Borneo players scored in double figures. American-Dominican forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and Puerto Rican-Dominican guard Miguel Miranda (198-2001, college: National Park) added 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Pacific Caesar in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Borneo maintains ninth place with 7-7 record. Pacific Caesar lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Borneo will meet at home higher ranked Satria Muda (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pacific Caesar will have a break next round.

Tangerang - Kesatria BS 86-79

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Tangerang (9-6) won against at home 6th ranked Kesatria BS (9-5) 86-79 on Friday. Strangely Kesatria BS outrebounded Tangerang 51-34 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tangerang looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Stephaun Branch (196-1995, college: UWG) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Tangerang players scored in double figures. Guard Dayon Griffin (195-1995, college: UCF) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and forward Travin Thibodeaux (203-1996, college: New Orleans) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively for Kesatria BS in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tangerang moved-up to seventh place. Loser Kesatria BS keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Tangerang will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kesatria BS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Jakarta to the arena Pelita Jaya.
