China trounces Indonesia in U18 Women's Asia Cup

Ziyu Zhang (220-C-2007) shone as China rolled past Indonesia 109-50 in Group B to secure a winning start in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup here on Monday. The 2.20m center went nine-for-nine from the floor for 19 points, along with seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks - all in 13 minutes off the bench. Peilin Xu (2007) top-scored for China with 20 points, Yuqian Li (196-C-2006) had 14 and Yifan Zhang (2006) added 13 points. Leading 42-28 into the second half, China poured 67 points while holding the opposition to only 22. Also in Group B, Japan defeated New Zealand 84-47. Group A saw Australia sweep Malaysia 124-38, while South Korea beat Chinese Taipei 75-63.
