IBL Round 24 (Regular Season): Pelita Jaya keeps a leadership position

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in IBL. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pelita Jaya as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pelita Jaya defeated 9th ranked Hangtuah in Jakarta 93-84. Pelita Jaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Filipino forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Brandon Jawato (193-1993, college: Hawaii) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Michael Kolawole (195-1997, college: Lamar) who recorded 32 points and 7 rebounds. Hangtuah's coach Andika Supriadi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pelita Jaya (15-1) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Dewa United. Hangtuah lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. Hangtuah will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Pelita Jaya will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Prawira in Bandung.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Jakarta: Kesatria BS (#3) and Satria Muda (#5). Kesatria BS (13-1) won against visiting Satria Muda (9-7) 94-83. It was a good game for American Kentrell Barkley (194-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. CJ Gettys contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for Satria Muda. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kesatria BS have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Newly promoted Kesatria BS maintains third position with 13-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Pelita Jaya. Satria Muda at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Rans Pik. Kesatria BS will play against bottom-ranked Pacific Caesar (#14) in Surabaya in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Satria Muda will have a break next round.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Gor Merpati. Local Rans Pik (9-7) beat 11th ranked Satya Wacana (5-12) 97-81 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Satya Wacana. Worth to mention a quality performance of LeBryan Nash who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Tyree Robinson with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rans Pik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Satria Muda. Loser Satya Wacana keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Rans Pik will meet at home league's second-placed Dewa United in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Satya Wacana will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 24 Tangerang was defeated by Bali Utd. in Denpasar 78-74.




Kesatria BS - Satria Muda 94-83

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Jakarta: Kesatria BS (#3) and Satria Muda (#5). Kesatria BS (13-1) won against visiting Satria Muda (9-7) 94-83. Kesatria BS players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Satria Muda's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American Kentrell Barkley (194-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. The other American import center CJ Gettys (213-1994, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Abraham Grahita (180-1995) added 21 points in the effort for Satria Muda. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bali Utd. - Tangerang 78-74

There was no surprise in Denpasar where 12th ranked Tangerang (4-11) was defeated by seventh ranked Bali Utd. (9-9) 78-74 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bali Utd. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kierell Green (203-1997, college: Edinboro) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and the former international center Ponsianus Indrawan (193-1985) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) with 19 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Steven Green (196-1993, college: OKBU) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bali Utd. maintains seventh position with 9-9 record. Tangerang lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Bali Utd. will meet at home Rajawali (#8) in the next round. Tangerang will have a break next round.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Gor Merpati. Local Rans Pik (9-7) beat 11th ranked Satya Wacana (5-12) 97-81 on Saturday night.
