Pelita Jaya Bakrie Jakarta (IBL) has signed Thomas Robinson, a 32-year-old American center who stands at 208cm tall and played college basketball at Kansas. Robinson most recently played for the NLEX Road Warriors in the Filipino PBA league, where he had impressive averages of 34.5 points, 13.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game last season. During the summer, he played for Mass Street in the U.S. semi-pro league, The Basketball Tournament. Robinson has also had stints with Leones in the Puerto Rican league, as well as Cariduros, Capitanes, and Grises, all Puerto Rican teams.
In 2012, the Sacramento Kings selected him as the fifth overall pick in the NBA draft. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas and is entering his twelfth season in professional basketball.
He is a highly experienced player, having played in ten different countries across four continents thanks to his career in professional basketball. He has gained familiarity with leagues in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America. Some of the teams he has played for include the Blue Whales and Royal Fighters in China, the Cangrejeros and Piratas in the Philippines and Puerto Rico, Khimki in Russia, Bahcesehir in Turkey, and the Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets, and Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. He has also played for the Samsung Thunders in South Korea, the Maine Celtics in the NBA G League, Real Esteli in Nicaragua, and the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League. In 2023, he was recognized for his skills and was selected to the Latinbasket.com All-Basketball Champions League Americas Honorable Mention team.
His team won the VTB United League Regular Season in 2020.
