Shavar Newkirk (ex NSH) signs at Slavia

SK Slavia Praha (NBL) landed 27-year old American 179cm point guard Shavar Newkirk (college: St.Joseph's) for new season. Newkirk played this summer at NSH Mountain Gold Timika in Indonesian IBL league. In 30 games just recently he averaged an impressive 15.5ppg, 5.2rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg. It was a very successful season in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Indonesian IBL Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week (2 times).
He represented USA at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Germany (Unofficial World Championships U18) nine years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 12.9ppg, 5.3rpg, Ast-5 (4.6apg), 1.3spg, FGP: 33.8%, 3PT: 35.7%, FT: 78.7%.
Newkirk has played previously professionally in Iceland (Hottur) and Germany (Schalke).
Among many awards his team made it to the Atlantic 10 Tournament Semifinals in 2018. He received Asia-Basket.com All-Indonesian IBL Player of the Year award and Asia-Basket.com All-Indonesian IBL Import Player of the Year award in 2022.
Newkirk graduated from Saint Joseph's University in 2018 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
