IBL Round 51: No surprise as #1 Satria Muda defeat Bumi Borneo

IBL top team - Satria Muda (27-2) added another victory to their record on Wednesday. This time they beat seventh ranked Bumi Borneo (15-14) in Jakarta 73-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bumi Borneo. They outrebounded Bumi Borneo 56-39 including 19 on the offensive glass. 30 personal fouls committed by Bumi Borneo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Rick Jackson (206-1989, college: Syracuse) who led his team to a victory scoring 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Laurentius Oei (195-1994) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Bumi Borneo's coach T Syailendra tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first place with 27-2 record. Bumi Borneo at the other side keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bali Utd. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 15-15 record. Evos Bogor at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Bali Utd. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Evos Bogor will play on the road against Satya Wacana (#16) in Salatiga and hopes to get back on the winning track.

In the last two games of round 51 Pacific Caesar won against WBS on the opponent's court 84-80. Hangtuah unfortunately lost to Prawira in a home game 70-87.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 25 points and 16 rebounds by Lewis Diankulu of Hangtuah.

There was a minor upset in Jakarta where 13th ranked WBS (8-20) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Pacific Caesar (6-24) 84-80. Pacific Caesar outrebounded WBS 44-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Aven Pratama (-2004) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Rio Disi (185-1992) came up with 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and the former international Mei Joni (188-1989) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for WBS in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. WBS's coach Nedas Pacevicius tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pacific Caesar maintains fifteenth place with 6-24 record. WBS lost their eleventh game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Hangtuah - Prawira 70-87

Very predictable result in Jakarta where third ranked Prawira (25-3) defeated 11th ranked Hangtuah (10-18) 87-70. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican Brandone Francis (194-1994, college: Texas Tech) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) accounted for 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Prawira players scored in double figures. Canadian power forward Lewis Diankulu (201-1995, college: Queens, NC) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and Fisyaiful Amir (183-1995) added 15 points respectively for Hangtuah in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Prawira. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Pelita Jaya. Hangtuah at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Prawira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hangtuah's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Jakarta to the arena NSH.
