IBL Round 39: Bumi Borneo edge Prawira by one point

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 39 in the IBL took place in Pontianak. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Prawira (19-3) to seventh ranked Bumi Borneo (12-10) 75-74 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Prawira. Bumi Borneo made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Prawira turnovers and had a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Prawira helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ngurah Wisnu Budidharma (180-1990) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bumi Borneo maintains seventh place with 12-10 record. Prawira at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jakarta. Second ranked Pelita Jaya faced 4th placed Dewa United. Host Pelita Jaya (20-2) smashed guests from Surabaya (15-8) 97-70. It was a good game for American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-1991, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Andakara Dhyaksa contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American Anthony Johnson (203-1988, college: Fairfield) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds for Dewa United. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pelita Jaya have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-2 record behind leader Satria Muda. Dewa United at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Bima Perkasa.
Bottom-ranked Pacific Caesar managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of twelve consecutive losses on Wednesday night. This time they won against fourteenth-ranked NSH in Surabaya 91-85. It was a great evening for Morakinyo Williams who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Andre Rorimpandey with 24 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pacific Caesar maintains sixteenth place with 3-20 record. NSH lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 18 games lost.

Other games of round 39 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Rans Pik crushed Evos Bogor in Gor Merpati 62-42. WBS was beaten by Indonesia P. at home 62-76. Hangtuah destroyed Bima Perkasa on the opponent's court 86-66. Satria Muda outscored Satya Wacana in a home game 87-51. Bali Utd. recorded a loss to Tangerang on the road 74-72.




Evos Bogor - Rans Pik 42-62

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Evos Bogor (6-16) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Rans Pik (14-8) 62-42 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for Jamaican-American Akeem Scott (180-1983, college: High Point) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American Akeem Ellis (196-1990, college: Coppin St.) helped adding 7 points and 9 rebounds. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American-Jamaican center David Haye (183-1994, college: SUNY Delhi) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and forward Christopher Winata (185-2000) scored 4 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rans Pik maintains sixth place with 14-8 record. Loser Evos Bogor keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Indonesia P.'s (10-13) road victory over 10th ranked WBS (8-13) 76-62 on Tuesday. They outrebounded WBS 43-27 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Karl Utiarahman (188-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Julian Chalias (188-2002) helped adding 15 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international Mei Joni (188-1989) with 5 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Christian Gunawan (175-1994) scored 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indonesia P. moved-up to eighth place. WBS lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost.

There was an upset in Sakti where 4th placed Bima Perkasa (15-8) was rolled over by twelfth ranked Hangtuah (9-13) 86-66 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for American guard Ronnie Boyce III (191-1995, college: USF) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 8 rebounds. Canadian power forward Lewis Diankulu (201-1995, college: Queens, NC) helped adding 11 points. The best for the losing side was American center Fuquan Niles (211-1995, college: CWU, agency: Interperformances) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Nuke Saputra (177-1995) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Bima Perkasa players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hangtuah moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Tangerang. Loser Bima Perkasa keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Dewa United.

Very predictable result in Jakarta where first ranked Satria Muda (21-1) outscored 15th ranked Satya Wacana (4-19) 87-51 on Wednesday. Satria Muda forced 19 Satya Wacana turnovers and outrebounded them 49-29 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Rick Jackson (206-1989, college: Syracuse) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points. His fellow American import forward Elijah Foster (197-1996, college: Nevada) helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. Foster is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was point guard Febrianus Khiandio (181-1999) with 13 points and forward Randy Prasetya (202-1997) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Satria Muda. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-1 record. Loser Satya Wacana keeps the fifteenth position with 19 games lost.

The best for the losing side was American forward Dior Lowhorn (201-1987, college: USF) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jay Bowie (196-1992, college: Marist, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) scored 15 points. Bali Utd.'s coach Anthony Garbelotto tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tangerang moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Hangtuah. Loser Bali Utd. dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost.
