IBL Round 35: Pelita Jaya edge Dewa United by two points

The most exciting game of round 35 in the IBL took place in Jakarta. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Dewa United (14-5) to third ranked Pelita Jaya (16-2) 96-94 on Friday evening. Pelita Jaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Dominique Sutton (193-1986, college: NCCU) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Hendrick Yonga (183-2002) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Pelita Jaya's coach Djordje Jovicic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American Anthony Johnson (203-1988, college: Fairfield) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 24 rebounds for the guests. Pelita Jaya have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Prawira. Dewa United at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost.
Leader Satria Muda delivered the seventeenth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Rans Pik (12-6) 67-58 in Gor Merpati. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rans Pik. The former international point guard Widyanta-Putra Teja (180-1997) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. Laurentius Oei contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Roscoe Smith (206-1991, college: UNLV) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds for Rans Pik. Rans Pik's coach Christopher Daleo rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Satria Muda. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-1 record. Rans Pik at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost.
Thirteenth-ranked NSH (5-14) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Bima Perkasa (13-6) in Sakti on Saturday. Bima Perkasa managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for Cameron Coleman who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Shavar Newkirk responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bima Perkasa moved-up to fifth place. Loser NSH keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Evos Bogor.

Other games of round 35 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Hangtuah defeated Satya Wacana in Jakarta 66-64. Evos Bogor was smashed by Prawira at home 50-84. Pacific Caesar lost to Tangerang on the opponent's court 57-62.



Satya Wacana - Hangtuah 64-66

There was no surprise in Salatiga where 16th ranked Satya Wacana (2-17) was edged by eleventh ranked Hangtuah (7-12) 66-64 on Friday. It was a great evening for American guard Ronnie Boyce III (191-1995, college: USF, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Daniel Wenas (190-1992) helped adding 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Shemar Johnson (204-1996, college: Stillman) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and guard Maikel Baliba (188) scored 9 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hangtuah moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Bali Utd. Loser Satya Wacana stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. They share it with Pacific Caesar.

Thirteenth-ranked NSH (5-14) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Bima Perkasa (13-6) in Sakti on Saturday. Bima Perkasa managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. Bima Perkasa outrebounded NSH 50-37 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Cameron Coleman (198-1992, college: York, NE, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Nuke Saputra (177-1995) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when third ranked Prawira (16-2) smashed on the road 13th ranked Evos Bogor (5-14) 84-50 on Saturday. They outrebounded Evos Bogor 44-31 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Prawira looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Evos Bogor's players. It was a great evening for Dominican Brandone Francis (194-1994, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. The former international point guard Yudha Saputera (176-1998) helped adding 20 points. American forward Andre Jackson (199-1994, college: Bowie St., agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and American-Jamaican center David Haye (183-1994, college: SUNY Delhi) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Prawira. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Pelita Jaya. Evos Bogor lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with NSH.

Rather expected game when 15th ranked Pacific Caesar (2-17) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Tangerang (6-12) 62-57 on Saturday. It was a great evening for American Tyron Criswell (192-1994, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jamaican-American center Anthony Allen (210-1992, college: OK State) helped adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Gregorio Wibowo (182-1995) scored 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tangerang. They maintain twelfth place with 6-12 record. Pacific Caesar lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Satya Wacana.
