IBL Round 27: Dewa United crush Bali Utd. by record 19 points

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Surabaya. Local Dewa United (12-3) outscored 10th ranked Bali Utd. (5-10) 85-66 on Thursday night. Dewa United outrebounded Bali Utd. 43-31 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American Anthony Johnson (203-1988, college: Fairfield) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Kaleb Gemilang (184-1991) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Abraham Wenas (174-1996) who recorded 14 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dewa United have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Bali Utd. lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Hangtuah. Dewa United will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bali Utd. will play on the road against Bima Perkasa (#5) in Sakti and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

Other games of round 27 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Hangtuah was defeated by Bumi Borneo in Pontianak 65-50. NSH was beaten by Prawira at home 66-82. Rans Pik lost to Pelita Jaya on the opponent's court 65-69.

Bumi Borneo - Hangtuah 65-50

There was no surprise in Pontianak where 13th ranked Hangtuah (5-10) was defeated by seventh ranked Bumi Borneo (10-6) 65-50 on Thursday. Bumi Borneo dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Hangtuah's 18. They outrebounded Hangtuah 51-26 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Cameron Ridley (206-1993, college: Texas) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ronnie Boyce III (191-1995, college: USF, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who recorded 27 points and 6 rebounds and Stevan Neno (180-1996) added 19 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bumi Borneo moved-up to sixth place. Hangtuah at the other side dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Bali Utd.. Bumi Borneo are looking forward to face Pacific Caesar (#15) in Surabaya in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hangtuah will play on the road against Rans Pik (#7) in Gor Merpati and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

NSH - Prawira 66-82

No shocking result in a game in Jakarta where fourth ranked Prawira (12-2) defeated 11th ranked NSH (4-10) 82-66 on Thursday. Prawira looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Dominican Brandone Francis (194-1994, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 16 points. Four Prawira players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Andre Rorimpandey (177-1996) who recorded 18 points and American point guard Shavar Newkirk (179-1996, college: St.Joseph's) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Prawira have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. NSH lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Prawira are looking forward to face Indonesia P. (#8) in Jakarta in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. NSH's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jakarta WBS.

Pelita Jaya - Rans Pik 69-65

Very expected game in Jakarta where 7th ranked Rans Pik (9-5) was defeated by second ranked Pelita Jaya (13-2) 69-65 on Thursday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was American swingman Dominique Sutton (193-1986, college: NCCU) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. The former international point guard Andakara Dhyaksa (173-1992) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican-American Akeem Scott (180-1983, college: High Point) who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Roscoe Smith (206-1991, college: UNLV) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pelita Jaya have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-2 record having just one point less than leader Satria Muda. Rans Pik at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Pelita Jaya are looking forward to face Evos Bogor (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Rans Pik will play against Hangtuah (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
