IBL Round 20: Bima Perkasa edge Dewa United by one point

The most exciting game of round 20 in the IBL took place in Sakti. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of their close opponent Dewa United (8-3) to third ranked Bima Perkasa (9-2) 94-93 on Thursday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Bima Perkasa made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Ikram Fadhil (187-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. American Cameron Coleman (198-1992, college: York, NE, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) chipped in 28 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American guard Ramon Galloway (190-1991, college: La Salle) produced 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Dewa United's coach Maximiliano Seigorman tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Bima Perkasa have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Pelita Jaya. Dewa United at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Bima Perkasa is looking forward to face Bumi Borneo (#7) in Pontianak in the next round where they are favorite. Dewa United will play at home against WBS and is hoping to win this game.

American swingman Jay Bowie (196-1992, college: Marist, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Rico Putra contributed with 13 points for the winners. Guard Henry Lakay (196-1998) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for Satya Wacana. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bali Utd. maintains ninth position with 5-7 record. Satya Wacana lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Rest of the games of round 20 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:

There was no surprise in Gor Merpati where 8th ranked Indonesia P. (6-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Rans Pik (7-3) 68-62. Rans Pik brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Australian center Duom Dawam (204-1996) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Fatur Shihab (183-1999) contributed with 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international Dame Diagne (197-2005) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and guard Julian Chalias (188-2002) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Indonesia P.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rans Pik maintains sixth position with 7-3 record. Indonesia P. at the other side keeps the eighth place with six games lost. Rans Pik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Indonesia P.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jakarta Hangtuah.

Bali Utd. was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Cameron Ridley (206-1993, college: Texas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 22 rebounds. Point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Jay Bowie (196-1992, college: Marist, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Dior Lowhorn (201-1987, college: USF) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Bali Utd.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pelita Jaya have a solid three-game winning streak.
