The Indonesian national team used the Women's ASEAN Basketball League to increase the level of the game after only being able to conduct training and trials with fellow Indonesian players. The women's basketball league of ASEAN or SWBL for the first time was held thanks to the proposal of the All-Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) which wants to advance and provide opportunities to compete with women's basketball athletes in the region. According to the schedule, the SWBL, which was enlivened by the Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian teams, will be played starting October 10 with the first series taking place in North Korea, Thailand. Women's basketball assistant coach July Wong said SWBL is very important for its players, not only to increase flight hours, but also to finalize the game strategy. So far, the training has focused on increasing chemistry and the offense and defense systems. SWBL is very important because the more we test it will definitely increase the confidence of players and increase the experience," said July, quoted by Antara, Sunday. According to July, the competition between the ASEAN basketball teams can also be a place for players to get to know the character of the game from other countries, especially Southeast Asia. "If it's just training and testing with fellow friends, they already know what their own habits, advantages are, and shortcomings. But if they test with other teams, they must be able to adapt quickly and learn how to defend or offense to deal with their opponents," he said. Secretary General of Perbasi Nirmala Dewi hopes that the players can maximize this momentum. The SWBL event must be used to build better cooperation between players so that the level of the Indonesian women's basketball national team can grow.
The Indonesian squad was strengthened by 12 players in the first edition of SWBL. They are Dyah Lestari (180-F-1998), Agustin Retong (167-SG-1995), Visca Syamsuri, Kadek Pratita Citta Dewi, Dewa Ayu Made Sriartha Kusuma, Adelaide Wongsohardjo, Yuni Anggraeni (175-F-1984), Nathania Orville (176-SF-2000), Mega Nanda Perdana Putri, Henny Sutjiono (168-SF-1994), Clarita Antonio, and Angelica Jennifer Candra.
