Bank BPD DIY Bima Perkasa (IBL) agreed terms with 30-year old American forward David Atkinson (203cm-102kg-91, college: Salem) for new 2022 season. It is actually his comeback to Sakti as he has played here before. Atkinson played last summer at Halc.Xalapa in Mexican LNBP. He also played for Ciudad (LBE) in Mexican league where in only one game he recorded 14 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
Three years ago (three years after he left the college) he was drafted by Saint John Riptide (NBL Canada) in second round (16th overall).
Atkinson attended Salem University (NCAA Div.II) until 2015 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
Atkinson's career allowed him to visit four different continents. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. Atkinson has played previously professionally in Saudi Arabia (Al Ansar), Spain (Utrera and Adepla) and MPBA (Lima E.).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team was regular season runner-up in Indonesian IBL Red Group in 2019. He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Indonesian IBL 2nd Team in 2019.
