IBL Round 8: Satria Muda climb to the leadership position- March 27, 2021
There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Louvre S. - Pelita Jaya 70-77 Leading Louvre S. (7-2) recorded its second loss in Surabaya. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Pelita Jaya (5-1) 77-70. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Pelita Jaya forced 20 Louvre S. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by international point guard Andakara Dhyaksa (173-92) who scored that evening 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international Respati Pamungkas (180-91) supported him with 14 points. Four Pelita Jaya players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds by the former international forward Jamarr Johnson (193-88, college: Widener) did not help to save the game for Louvre S.. Point guard Kevin Poetiray (186-95) added 17 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pelita Jaya maintains second position with 5-1 record having five points less than leader Louvre S. Louvre S. at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Satria Muda and Indonesia P.. Pelita Jaya will play against Bima Perkasa (#4) in Sakti in the next round. Louvre S. will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Pelita Jaya in Jakarta and it may be a tough game between close rivals. (#1). Indonesia P. was defeated at home 64-70 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Indonesia P.. The best player for the winners was the former international Pringgo Regowo (190-87) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. International point guard Widyanta-Putra Teja (182-97) chipped in 12 points and 9 assists. Point guard Muhamad Arighi (183-99) produced 19 points and point guard Yudha Saputera (170-98) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted WBS maintains fourth position with 3-6 record. Loser Indonesia P. still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Satria Muda and Louvre S.. WBS's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jakarta NSH. (5-3) on Friday night. Visiting Bima Perkasa was defeated by Bali Utd. in a tough game in Denpasar 70-75. Bali Utd. outrebounded Bima Perkasa 43-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Yerikho Tuasela (178-94) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Ponsianus Indrawan (191-85) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Azzaryan Pradhitya (181-92) responded with 20 points and 6 assists and the former international center Isman Thoyib (202-86) scored 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Bali Utd. moved-up to third place. Bima Perkasa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Bali Utd. will face Satya Wacana (#5) in Salatiga in the next round. Bima Perkasa will play at home against the league's second-placed Pelita Jaya and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Satria Muda defeated second-ranked Prawira in Jakarta 74-57. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Satria Muda made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Prawira turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Rivaldo Pangesthio (190-96) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Laurentius Oei (195-94) who added 16 points during the contest. Four Satria Muda players scored in double figures. The former international Abraham Grahita (180-95) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Diftha Pratama (186-89) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satria Muda have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Indonesia P. and Louvre S. Prawira at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. Prawira will play next round against Hang Tuah trying to get back on the winning streak. Satria Muda will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked NSH. It will be extra interesting game as NSH is their local rival from Jakarta. (#1) and Pacific Caesar (#6). Louvre S. (7-2) smashed visiting Pacific Caesar (1-8) by 20 points 80-60. Louvre S. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Pacific Caesar's 30. Louvre S. forced 25 Pacific Caesar turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. Point guard Kevin Poetiray (186-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Wendha Wijaya (181-82) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Yonatan Yonatan replied with 17 points and forward Jorge Senduk (192-97) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Pacific Caesar. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Louvre S. maintains first position with 7-2 record, which they share with Satria Muda and Indonesia P. Pacific Caesar at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Louvre S.'s next round opponent will be league's second-placed Pelita Jaya in Jakarta and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pacific Caesar will play at home against Satya Wacana (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
