Experienced American-Bahrain Chester Giles (211-C-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Pelita Jaya and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 21. The 32-year old center had a double-double of 23 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team crushed Satya Wacana (#4, 6-9) with 24-point margin 103-79. It allowed Pelita Jaya to consolidate first place in the Indonesian IBL. Pelita Jaya has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 13-1. It was one of impressive evenings for Giles as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Oregon State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Giles is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 12.0rpg) and averages solid 1.5bpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American guard Madarious Gibbs (185-G-93) of Satya Wacana. Gibbs impressed basketball fans with 41 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Satya Wacana lost that game 79-103 to the higher-ranked Pelita Jaya (#1, 13-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in White Group. Satya Wacana still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-9 record. Gibbs is a newcomer at Satya Wacana and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.5ppg (#1). He also recorded 4.5 assists per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Jason Carter (206-F-92, agency: Haylett Sports) of NSH (#5). Carter scored 19 points and grabbed twenty three rebounds (!!!). Despite Carter's great performance NSH lost 61-66 to slightly higher-ranked Hang Tuah (#3, 6-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. NSH can only dream about fighting for top spots in Red Group. They have rather bad season and 2-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Carter he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Carter has individually a great season in Indonesia. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 14.0rpg (4th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Wayne Bradford (193-G-92) of Pelita Jaya - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists 5. He had the game-high 40 points adding four rebounds and four assists for NSH in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Satria Muda (#3, 9-8) 87-83. It allowed NSH to consolidate first place in the Indonesian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. NSH has a very solid 11-6 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Wiggins had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He turned to be NSH's top player in his first season with the team. Dashaun Wiggins averages this season 22.0ppg, 7.4rpg and 5.1apg.
Second best performed player last round was Madarious Gibbs (185-G-93) of Satya Wacana. He is American guard in his second season at Satya Wacana. In the last game Gibbs recorded impressive 39 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Satya Wacana was edged by slightly higher-ranked Pacific Caesar (#3, 7-11) 82-81. Satya Wacana managed to keep the same 5th spot in White Group. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Satya Wacana managed to get this year. Gibbs is well-known at Satya Wacana and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Jamarr Johnson (193-F-88) of Satria Muda (#3). Johnson showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Johnson's great performance Satria Muda lost 83-87 to #1 ranked NSH. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Satria Muda needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in Red Group. Their record is 9 victories and 8 lost games. Johnson has a very solid season. In 17 games in Indonesia he scored 17.9ppg. He also has 10.1rpg, 3.8apg and FGP: 53.8%. Jamarr Johnson has also Indonesian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Qarraan Calhoun (203-F-86) of Pacific Caesar - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Dior Lowhorn (201-F-87) of Satria Muda - 25 points and 6 rebounds 6. The 30-year old guard got a double-double of 25 points and thirteen assists, while his team beat Satria Muda (#3, 8-7) 82-70. Bima Perkasa is placed at 2nd position in their group in Indonesian IBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bima Perkasa will need more victories to improve their 9-6 record. Seagers just recently signed at Bima Perkasa, being already a very valuable addition to the team. David Seagers averages this season 21.0ppg, 10.4rpg and 5.3apg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was American Dalarian Williams (198-SF) of Prawira. Williams impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Prawira cruised to a 94-83 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Siliwangi (#4, 5-11). Prawira's 5th position in White Group has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-9 record. Williams is a newcomer at Prawira and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.3ppg (#5). He also registered 10.3 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Michael Vigilance (203-F-94) of Siliwangi (#4). Vigilance got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for fifteen rebounds . Despite Vigilance's great performance Siliwangi lost 83-94 to slightly lower-ranked Prawira (#5, 5-9). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Siliwangi not to end season at such low position in White Group, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Vigilance could try to bring Siliwangi's a little bit higher in the standings. Vigilance has individually a great season in Indonesia. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.1ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 18.9rpg (#1 in league). He also has 2.1spg and 1.6bpg. Vigilance attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
