Malaysia recorded the first victory at the 2015 SEA Games. They knocked down Indonesia in the opener. Hui Pin Pang (176-F-90) posted 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners.
Indonesia jumped to an early lead. They grabbed a 19:9 advantage after ten minutes. But Malaysia responded with a 19:8 run in the second frame to take the lead. They followed with a 23:13 rally in the third term to boost their lead. Malaysia triggered a 19:5 surge in the fourth quarter to ice the victory. Kalaimathi Rajintiran (185-C-90) had 12 points, while Eugene Ting (180-C-92) added 10 points for Malaysia. Jacklien Ibo (178-C-90) responded with 10 points for Indonesia. Agustin Retong (167-PG-95) provided 8 points in the loss.
