All 72 Matches to be Livestreamed, Analysed and Used for Coach Education

Kochi, Kerala:

The inaugural season of Basketball League Kerala (BLK) Season 1, jointly promoted by Starting Five Sports Management Pvt Ltd & ABC Basketball League Pvt Ltd along with the Kerala Basketball Association, is set to introduce one of the most ambitious technology-led initiatives ever undertaken in Indian youth basketball. The league, which will be held at the Regional Sports Centre Indoor Stadium, Kochi from 4th to 13th June 2026, features six franchise teams competing across Boys and Girls Under-14 and Under-19 categories, with a total of 72 matches scheduled during the competition.Supporting the league's vision is ABC Basketball League Development, which has been working alongside the organisers in developing the league structure, operational framework and long-term pathway model aimed at creating a sustainable basketball ecosystem in Kerala.

Every Match to Reach a Global Audience

For the first time in a youth basketball competition of this scale in Kerala, every one of the 72 matches will be livestreamed through a professional five-camera production setup with live commentary. The technological initiative is being powered by Wizsports.ai, the official livestream and technology partner for the league. The multi-camera production format is expected to significantly enhance the viewing experience for players, parents, coaches, alumni and basketball followers from Kerala and across the global Malayali diaspora.Beyond broadcasting, the initiative will create a valuable digital archive of player performances that can be referenced for future player development, scouting and talent identification.

Statistics For Every Match

In another significant step towards modernising basketball development, detailed match statistics will be captured throughout the tournament. The statistical data will help coaches and teams better understand player performances, team trends and game patterns while creating a foundation for evidence-based coaching and player development.Organisers believe that introducing young athletes to data-driven performance analysis at an early stage can accelerate learning and align Kerala basketball with global best practices.

Coach Education Through Technology

A key objective of BLK Season 1 is to ensure that technology benefits not only players but also coaches.Accordingly, a dedicated coach education initiative is being planned alongside the competition to familiarise coaches with the practical use of statistics, video review and performance analysis tools. The programme aims to demonstrate how coaches can use technology to evaluate player performance, improve decision-making, identify tactical trends and support long-term athlete development.

First-of-Its-Kind Video Analytics Initiative

The championship finals will feature what is believed to be a first for Indian basketball.Organisers plan to conduct detailed video analytics of the final match and share the analysis with participating teams as part of the coach education programme. The video breakdown will include analysis of offensive and defensive systems, transition play, player movement, decision-making patterns and key tactical moments. The initiative is designed to expose coaches and players to the type of analytical tools commonly used by professional and high-performance basketball programmes around the world.

Supporting Referee Development

In addition to player and coach development, the video analytics exercise will also help identify officiating trends and game management patterns.By reviewing game situations through video, the initiative seeks to create learning opportunities for referees and technical officials, contributing to the overall improvement of basketball standards in Kerala.

A New Beginning for Kerala Basketball

Speaking about the initiative, the President of the Kerala Basketball Association said:
"Kerala has always been recognised as one of India's leading basketball states because of the talent, passion and commitment of our players, coaches and officials. We are excited that Basketball League Kerala is introducing technology, livestreaming, analytics and coach education into our development ecosystem. This is a new beginning for Kerala basketball. By providing greater visibility and better learning opportunities, we believe this initiative will help bring out the very best from the immense talent that exists across our state and create pathways for future generations of players."

Representatives of Starting Five Sports Management added that the long-term vision is to make technology an integral part of basketball development rather than a luxury available only to elite teams. With support from ABC Basketball League Development, advanced livestreaming solutions from Wizsports.ai, comprehensive statistical tracking and innovative video analytics initiatives, Basketball League Kerala Season 1 is poised to become a model for how technology can be effectively integrated into grassroots and youth basketball development in India. As the first ball is tipped off in Kochi on 4th June 2026, the league will not only showcase Kerala's emerging basketball talent but also demonstrate how innovation, education and technology can work together to shape the future of the sport.
