Indian Basketball Squad for FIBA Asia Cup qualifier announced

India have named a 12-member final squad for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers later this month. The final roster picked after trimming down the preliminary squad that was announced earlier. India will face Kazakhstan and Iran in the first window of FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers. The Indian basketball team will first travel to the Republican Velodrome Saryarka in Astana where they will face the 11th ranked Kazakhstan on February 23. They will then host Iran, ranked 27th, three days later at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

While the preliminary roster featured a very youthful squad, Coach Veselin Matic and the selection committee have put their bets on players who have played for India before.

As mentioned earlier, the key missing piece of the team has been the former G-League player Amjyot Singh. However, the team still has veteran captain Amritpal Singh, former captain Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, and NBA Summer League winner Princepal Singh.

At a glance, it seems Toza Matic will have a guard-heavy rotation, as he has several options on the position. Overall, the squad seems to have a good mix of perimeter defense, outside shooting and playmaking.
