Chor Wai Lui, head coach of Tycoon, second-place team in the HKBA season, has decided to resign from his position. Lui announced this decision through his social media, he said the 2-years tenure was one of the best rides in his career, as the team was able to break through South China and Winling traditional finals matchup. Lui wished the team nothing but the best and excited for what's next in his career. While this news may bring uncertainty to the vacancy of head coach position, there are rumors that Yiu Ming Chu, long-time head coach of South China and widely considered as one of the best coaches in the league, may set to return as Tycoon head coach. Chu was the head coach of Tycoon winning the HKBA A2 champion in the 2016-2017 season, led the team to qualify for HKBA A1.

Kin Wan Chow (193-C-91), half Korean half Chinese, who played for Tycoon in their 2017 A2 champion run and Chu's developed player since he was in high school, announced he will play for Tycoon next season before Lui's resign was announced. Chow is looking forward to competing with Tycoon, before he gives the Korean Basketball League (KBL) another shot. Chow played college basketball in South Korea for Myongji University, and played last 3 years in the KBL for Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus and Jeonju KCC Egis.

With South China clinching both the Silver Sheild and HKBA champion, Duncan Reid (206-C-89), starting center of the team, announced he will stay for next season, as the team continues to strive for the champions, and his recovery of Achilles tendon injury before heading back to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) to compete. The Canadian mix Chinese said that his injury was only 60-70% recovered at the time he decided to stay in Hong Kong and play for South China, instead of returning to China to prepare for next season, as a brotherhood with the team was on his mind and he wanted to be there for his teammates and the Hong Kong national team in preparation for FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.
