Thailand recorded another victory at the home Asian Championship tonight. They overcame Hong Kong to clinch the top position in Level II standings. They will now take on Kazakhstan for the place in Level I. Thidaporn Maihom (170-F-93) recorded 20 points to lead the winners.
Thailand claimed a 16:6 lead after ten minutes of action. Hong Kong however narrowed the gap in the second frame. The visitors cut the distance to just 7 points at the final intermission. Thailand were back in control in the third term. They opened an 8-point lead at the final break. The home team dropped 18 points in the fourth period and sealed the victory. Penphan Yothanan (170-C-83) netted 19 points, while Juthamas Jantakan (174-G-85) added 12 points for the winners. Cheuk Ting (166-PG-89) and Wong Tsz Ching (160-PG-89) responded with 14 points each for Hong Kong.
