Uzbekistan recorded the opening win at the Asian Championship. They rallied past Hong Kong for 1-3 record in Level II standings. Lyudmila Komarova (192-C-93) stepped up with 20 points and 11 rebounds to pace the winners.
Hong Kong eked out a 14:13 lead after ten minutes of action. Uzbekistan denied the deficit and evened things up at 27 after twenty minutes. The Uzbek team fired 26 points in the third term to clear off. They gained a 9-point advantage heading into the fourth term. Hong Kong outscored their opponents in the final period but could not avoid the defeat. Elena Khusnidinova (178-F-85) netted 14 points and issued 7 assists for the winners. Cheuk Ting (166-PG-89) responded with 16 points for Hong Kong. Lo Hiu Fong (175-PF-89) netted 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the loss.
