Philippines rout Hong Kong in the opener of the Asia Championship. Philippines celebrated an 87:57 win and took 1-0 record in Level II.
Philippines won the opening tip 11:8 and had 23:19 lead at the end of the first period. They erupted for 40:23 advantage midway through the second period and reached 51:33 at the halftime. Philippines started the third quarter with a 10-3 run and closed the period at 63:47. They needed another final push at the end of the game for 30-point win.
Analyn Almazan (180-C-88) top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Merenciana Arayi (85) nailed 14. Fria Bernardo (165-PG-91) poured in 12, whilst Joan Grajales (162-G-79), Chovi Borja (85) and Cindy Resultay (167-F-90) scored 8 each. Chu Hau Yee (183-C-86) and Law Lai Yi (163-SF-89) ended up with 11 points each in the losing effort. Wong Man Sze (170-PG-95) and Lo Hiu Fong (175-PF-89) scored 6 apiece in a loss.
