Japan claimed the second consecutive victory at the start of the East Asian Games in Tianjin. They rallied past Hong Kong to remain perfect. Asako O had 18 points and 9 rebounds in the victory.
Japan limited Hong Kong to 9 points in the opening quarter and recorded a 17-point lead at the first break. Japan stayed in charge throughout the second frame. They established a 51:16 halftime advantage. Japan stayed dominant throughout the second half. They unleashed 52 points and secured a comfortable win at the end. Kana Motoyama (180-F-90), Chika Sakuragi (179-F-91) and Ramu Tokashiki (191-C/F-91) chipped in 13 points apiece in the victory. Huang Mengyu responded with 12 points for Hong Kong. Cheuk Ting netted 6 points in the losing effort.
